ILM Volunteer Hub (3).png

Be a part of something special from the ground up. Become a founding volunteer!

The volunteers who power the ILM Volunteer Hub in these early stages are doing something that goes far beyond a few hours of their time. They are laying the foundation for a resource that New Hanover County will rely on for years to come — a connected, organized, data-informed volunteer ecosystem that strengthens every nonprofit it touches and opens the door to service for every resident who walks through it.

These roles are the first chapter of that story. Whether you’re helping a nonprofit get set up on the platform, showing up at a community event to spread the word, capturing the moments that will define our first year, or quietly making sure every opportunity on the Hub is just right — your contribution is foundational. Not just to our organization, but to the long-term health and connection of this community.

This is what it looks like to be in at the beginning of something that matters and we’d love for you to be part of it.

Each of our founding volunteer roles are listed below. There's a link to the full role description and a link to apply. If you have any questions before applying, please email Rose Tatum at rose@volunteerleadershiplab.com.

Partner Champion Volunteer
Virtual/In-Person · Flexible · Tech-savvy/Detail-Oriented
Starts June 2026

The ILM Volunteer Hub platform is only as strong as the organizations using it . As our Onboarding Volunteer, you’ll help local nonprofits get set up on the platform — guiding them through account creation, profile setup, and posting their first volunteer opportunities.

You’ll be front and center on launch day and available for follow-up support as new organizations join.

If you have a knack for explaining technology clearly and a heart for the nonprofit community, this role was made for you.

Data & Listing Quality Control Volunteer
Fully Remote · Flexible/2–4 Hours Per Month
Starts July 2026

The Hub’s value depends on what’s on it. As our Data & Listing Quality Control Volunteer, you’ll review nonprofit profiles and volunteer opportunity listings to make sure they’re accurate, complete, and easy to find. When something needs attention, you’ll reach out to partner organizations with a friendly nudge.

This role is fully remote and entirely self-scheduled. If you’re someone who takes quiet pride in making sure things are done right, and you want to contribute meaningfully when and where is most convenient for you, this role is for you.
